Last two days i tested #meshtastic solution for Text and GPS. Urban it works very well without sight up to 1km range.
3x Tbeam v1.1 was used for testing, one in low power router mode. Meshtastic android app works great.
Everything build from source.

Some with experience in #ATAK? Need some hints for my #meshtastic project to get this up 👆

My solar powered #meshtastic outdoor router in progress.
Today I soldered everything together and will test how efficient this setup is.
It's a 5v solar panel with a charge module and a 18650 battery connected via USB with 0.9-5v mobile booster. This should step in if available and load the internal 18650 battery.
I use TBeam v1.1 esp32 for this project with bt, wifi, lora and GPS included. For the outdoor solution, bt and wifi gets disabled.
It's hard to get rid of YouTube Premium, so I tried a lot from free radio stream apps, to offline music solutions and recently i tried odysee. Not happy at all for several reasons like advertising, bandwidth, performance and comfort to handle Playlists.
Let's do it the modern way till another superior solution is found.
Got some fun with my #meshtastic and build up a telegram bot to forward text to my meshtastics via serial interface. 😁
One of the expensive boards, can be used without a display, just battery in or insert USB and it's ready to flash firmware on.
Use as GPS tracker, lora text messenger, wifi ap Hotspot with small Webserver, wifi infrastructure to connect the mesh trough a mqtt internet server works already.
Great development with vs code in c++ and great possibilities... You ever thought on a bitcoin lightning wallet to send and receive transactions within a lora mesh? ✌️

A project that lets you use inexpensive ($30 ish) GPS radios as an extensible, long battery life, secure, mesh GPS communicator. #meshtastic

1/ I just published a massive article called "Recovering Our Lost Free Will Online: Tools and Techniques That Are Available Now" https://changelog.complete.org/archives/10231-recovering-our-lost-free-will-online-tools-and-techniques-that-are-available-now
I will summarize some key points in this thread, but please do check out the article.
6/ Recovering free will online
We have so many walled gardens, from Github to Facebook. It doesn't have to be this way.
#Mastodon itself is a powerful example.
Shows how good my memory is: I just relearned about #meshtastic today. It looks interesting for my use case, providing messaging and position support for wilderness races. Could be easy to deploy repeaters. https://meshtastic.letstalkthis.com/

#ubuntu is the best recommendation to switch from totalitarian operating systems to a world of freedom and easy open source access.
Snap Packages did a great step for much less user interactions to keep your software up and running smooth all the time.
No reboot enforcements or hidden background tasks to spy on your behaviours.
Do you still have friends left in the Matrix? Free them fast!
