To all who claim #WhatsApp was end-to-end encrypted: How do you know? There's no proof that the sender and the recipient are the only ones who can decrypt the messages. It doesn't make sense to spread myths created by the surveillance industry, namely #Facebook.

Open-source messengers on the other hand, like #Signal, @threemaapp, @matrix, @xmpp or @briar, are proven to use #E2EE thanks to their source-code being publicly available.

@danie10 β€œOpen” not β€œfree” but still, a step in the right direction. Now if only we could see that that openness needs to be protected from enclosure by those with the most wealth and power instead of constituting yet another cheap resource for them to embrace and extend in their proprietary systems.

Looking for suggestions for a native KDE/Qt Mastodon client.

Trying Tokodon at the moment, but there's a weird bug where clicking on a conversation "misses" and gets a different conversation.

I've tried all the usual Node apps, but would prefer something lighter and more KDE-ish.

Once again, in light of the protonmail revelations, it’s not private unless you run it yourself.
