Hey @matrix !

Any plans for a arm64 release of elements? I am not that keen on having it in the browser - I want it in the taskbar :D

@f0x

Well yes, but they offer Elements as a debianpackage from their own repo - and I can't install it on my pinebook :(

@f0x

:O is that so?
I thought it was the platform to use if you wanted to be on many architectures as possible!

@selea idc I guess you wouldn't want to run electron on underpowered devices anyways

@f0x

well yes, but I want matrix on desktop. The other clients does not really support encryption that well or even at all :(

@selea
Try nheko. packages.debian.org/unstable/n it has arm binaries and encryption. I use it as my main matrix client on my laptop. I maintain buster-backports of it. #nheko #matrix

@f0x

But it is:

github.com/electron/electron/r

If I would need to guess, I would say that the element build instructions or infrastructure is currently not arm64 capable. But that might be solvable by a new server. Electron itself is not the problem.

@selea

@f0x
That can not be correct, as I use VSCodium on my Pinebook Pro
