I just wish that there was a possibility to tag instances with a certain tag, and if enough instances has tagged it as for example "NSFW", it would be added to a list that was other instances was able to subscribe to.

Alright, let admins of instances themselves add that tag then. I am tired of NSFW crap on my federated timeline.

@selea If you are the admin can't you just silence it?

@Gargron

Yes I can ofcourse, but with so many new instances popping up I have to silence a couple every day :)

@snacks @selea @wowaname@anime.website Yeeeeah but what OP is describing will be even more painful with the MRF system as you need to change the source code for each new domain lol

@Gargron @selea am i misunderstanding something? you only need to add the domain names, that's not really painful

@snacks @selea Add domain names, recompile, restart. In mastodon you just submit a form in admin UI.

@Gargron so you can nsfw everything from an instance in mastodon too? What is @selea complaining about then in the post i'm replying to?

@snacks @selea No you can't but OP is complaining that many new domains pop up every day so they want a communal/automated mechanism for dealing with them

That doesn't solve any problem, it actually opens new ones.
Such system is open to abuse because everyone has more or less different interpretation of "tags", one could consider some content NSFW but something else might not. It's a human problem. And it's the same thing for block functions, it's all arbitrary.

@mangeurdenuage

Yeah I realized that quickly, and @wowaname did confirm that too.

But as I wrote a couple on minutes ago:
