A new malware is targeting Discord users by modifying the Windows Discord client so that it is transformed into a backdoor and an information-stealing Trojan.

What do you mean? I haven't used Discord in a long time and I'm not up to date with the news about it.

@marlon @Niebylev @redstarfish >Discord is spyware because it collects all information that passes through its communication platform.

If that's what you're going to call spyware, you probably shouldn't be using the Internet even with a proxy like Tor.

>which means that it is impossible to prove that Discord is not spyware.

That's a Russel's Teapot argument.

@swashberry @Niebylev @redstarfish @koyu "the internet" does not store personal information per se; you can use your own servers and protocols if you really wanted to.

I agree that if "you cannot review the source" is a Russel's Teapot argument. However there is no way to prove otherwise currently, only if you can review the contents of the Discord servers (which you cannot).

In any case, if you look at the ToS it does report collecting a lot of information which should not be necessary.
