Tired of those linux youtubers who act as gurus of the open source software and are critic on whatever that is not Arch Linux, Gentoo or windows managers away from Gnome, KDE or similar full desktops. Just let anybody use the distro he/she wants and help them to feel confortable with the penguin. Everybody has their own path.

r/unixporn is awesome with all of those i3wm screenshots (and alternatives), but the elephant in the room is those few comsumed resources. Less than 200 MB RAM in my case and running in a 15 years old laptop. THIS is what is really awesome.

My younger brother just gave me a 5th Gen Kindle Fire that he just replaced. I've been looking all over the internet for resources that could help me install Linux on it but the internet is failing me tonight.

Does anybody here have experience or links I can click that relate to installing Linux on the device? If so, please fire a reply my way.

Quick Question.

When someone says thank you what's your default/go to response?

So how would one update #FreeBSD to 12.2 on a platform not supported by freebsd-update? A Raspberry Pi model B for example.

A whole new Amiga magazine could be happening! If they hit 500 pre-orders, it goes ahead.

I really like the amount of #retrocomputing stuff out on the fediverse, and the net in general, but I have a huge nostalgic soft spot for old computing magazines. If this gets off the ground I'll be very happy. If about 380 more of you people could also put in an order that'd be awesome. :awesome:

What do you reckon is a realistic timeline for the phone to be "mainstream ready"?

Listening to this month's #mmbc album. It's well outside of my normal music realm but i'm giving it a good chance.

Go pick up the album

Then join us in the xmpp room for the chat around the end of the month

Has anyone here used PJON? It sounds like pretty damn cool tech, from the website at least.
