After 20+ years using Linux and FreeBSD I still encounter issues where the wrong program opens for a given filetype. Usually resulting in my going down a rabbit hole trying to figure out what combination of environment, xdg settings or hardcoded programs is thwarting my wishes.

The particleboard with standards is that there are so many to choose from.
