Hello! (Im starting out on mastadon so please. Feel free to tell me if im doing anything wrong). Does anyone know any good light Linux Distros for my netbook
It uses a
- Intel Atom N270 CPU
- 2GB DDR2 RAM (Single Channel)
- Intel 945 (if im correct) GPU with UMA 224MB
- 80GB WD Scorpio Black HDD 7200rpm
- 1024x600 Display
@itst3k oof an N270... singlecore 1.6GHz... I remember trying to find something that worked nicely on it... I failed...
@finlaydag33k Yeah. I am mainly going to be using it as a glorified MP3/FLAC Player for my stereo. I might also play some movies (MKV) too but idk
@itst3k Maybe try building an arch distro (or some other small distro) and install Mopidy on it?
https://www.mopidy.com/
@finlaydag33k Would I have to move my music from my file server to the netbook?
@itst3k "Vanilla Mopidy only plays music from your local disk and radio streams."
you could do some things tho:
- Built an extention allowing it to play through something like DLNA (though these might already exist)
- Mount a network share (using something like fstab)
@finlaydag33k ah gotcha. I might try a light version of Arch or Debian and run something like VLC (I'm not too great with terminal based stuff. Still learning lol)
@itst3k the best way to learn is through practice :)
Could maybe even use something like Alpine linux I guess?
@finlaydag33k Im going to try that out. Thank you.
@finlaydag33k Alright (yeah sorry about that. Still new lol)
@itst3k np ;)
