What shell do you use?

@Meztli Voting Bash because that's what I use on servers (out of habit and it being pre-installed), but running zsh with oh-my-zsh on the laptop to get some variety

@johan for me im running fish, i love fish's autocomplete and syntax highlighting.

@Meztli I was using Zsh on my prior distro and prefer it over Bash. Yet to try Fish.

Interactive: ZSH
Scripting: POSIX sh
INIT scripts: OpenRC

@Meztli what other shells do people use?
I used csh and ksh in the old days, but wouldn't use them now.

@Meztli oh good point, I've had to use sash once or twice, glad I keep that installed

@shapr @Meztli

tcsh was on both IRIX and OS X when I used them, so that was a thing. I've tried to become more aware of bashisms from time to time but can't much be bothered anymore.

@deejoe @Meztli My second tech job I was sysadmin for IRIX, AIX, HP-UX, SuSE, Solaris, and SunOS. Company owner convinced me that being a Java coder was enough experience to do that job.
It was not.
I got fired after six months.
The previous sysadmin asked me who had been running the billing scripts.
I said, what billing scripts?
I can still drive IRIX, but my memory is blurry from the stress.

I learned mostly in "if we knew what we were doing it wouldn't be research" labs, much more forgiving & fewer types of Unix at once.

@Meztli I think the question of how do you pronounce zsh is more heated

@pavo im indonesian and in indonesian z is pronounced zed

@pavo ohmyzedsh but i just prefer to say zsh because it sounds better
